The green light is expected in the coming days, confirmed Minister Fávaro, strengthening the trade agenda between the two countries. The authorization protocol for exporting fish to China could generate up to USD 1 billion.

Brazil is poised to significantly expand its footprint in the global seafood market with China’s expected approval to import Brazilian fish. This milestone was confirmed by the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Carlos Fávaro, during a press conference on Thursday (17), following the BRICS Agriculture Working Group meeting held at the Itamaraty Palace in Brasília.

Beyond the immediate economic potential, the authorization represents a strategic breakthrough for the Brazilian fishing and aquaculture industry.

Access to one of the world’s largest consumer markets will stimulate domestic production, attract new investments, and encourage the adoption of higher quality and sustainability standards to meet international demand.

For producers, exporters, and logistics chains, this move signals a promising outlook for diversification and growth. It could also drive innovation and competitiveness within the industry, positioning Brazil as a key player in the global seafood trade.
